Ingredients
1 large yam or sweet potato
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 garlic clove, minced
2 tablespoons butter, cubed
3 sage leaves, minced, plus extra for garnish
Salt, to taste
Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Directions

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 450°F. Line a sheet pan with parchment paper or lightly oil the pan.
Step 2: Using a vegetable peeler, shave the yam or sweet potato into thin, ribbon-like slices.
Step 3: Spread the ribbons evenly in a single layer on the prepared sheet pan.
Step 4: Season with salt, black pepper, nutmeg, cinnamon and minced garlic. Toss gently to coat.
Step 5: Scatter the cubed butter evenly over the yam ribbons, allowing it to melt into caramelized pockets as the yams roast.
Step 6: Roast for approximately 30 minutes, tossing halfway through.
Step 7: For crispier edges, continue roasting for up to 45 minutes.
Step 8: Garnish with additional sage and adjust the salt and pepper before serving.

Serving Suggestion: Serve these crispy yams warm as a festive Thanksgiving or holiday side alongside roast turkey, cranberry sauce, stuffing, and gravy.

Why You'll Love It: Thinly shaved yams create plenty of crispy, caramelized edges while butter, sage, cinnamon, nutmeg, and garlic bring warm, savoury-sweet fall flavour.

Fresh St. Market Tip: For a sweeter side, add a little more cinnamon and nutmeg. For a more savoury version, increase the sage and freshly ground black pepper.
